Keynote speaker and scientist Ray Kurzweil says we're only 20 years away from human immortality

The keynote speaker Ray Kurzweil says humans could be immortal in as little as 20 years through nanotechnology and a better understanding of how the body works. The inventor and speaker principal has made the claim that we can all be cyborgs in 20 years. The Keynote Speaker 61-year-old, who has predicted that arrive before the new technologies says that our understanding of genes and information technology is accelerating at an incredible rate. In theory, says that the rhythm is our understanding growing nanotechnologies capable of replacing many of our vital organs would be available within 20 years. Despite his claims seem outlandish, reminds us that the artificial pancreas and neural implants are now available Ray calls his theory of the Law of Accelerating Returns. Writing in The Sun, said: "I and many other scientists now believe that in 20 years we will have the means to reprogram the software of our Stone Age bodies so we can stop and then reverse the aging process. Here, nanotechnology allows us to live forever. "Ultimately, nanobots to replace cells blood and do its work of thousands of times more effectively. "In 25 years we will be able to do an Olympic sprint for 15 minutes without breathing, or go diving for four hours without oxygen. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for artificial limbs. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets.
