I Limb Bionic Hand

Will bionics one day replace prosthetics?

I always wondered this ever since I saw the Terminator movies. I feel sad for individuals missing a limb or two. Often, I wished I could give Jim Abbott a right hand. It breaks my heart every time I see soldiers returning from Iraq with no legs and whatnot. The same is true about Rick Allen from Def Leppard when he lost his arm in a car crash. It appears donating limbs from cadavers is miles down the road. Meanwhile, I wonder if they can manufacture limbs like that of a robot and attach it to the person's body. I wonder if science fiction can become a reality and one day Jim Abbott can have a bionic hand like that of Ash from the Evil Dead movies. Rather than giving someone a useless prosthetic limb for appearance, I think a robotic limb connected to all the neurons is more suitable. After all, electricity pulses through our body; therefore, I don't see why it's not possible. Can anyone envision people having bionic limbs one day in our lifetime?

Yes I do. They are making great strides in this area as littems said. I'm not sure if we will see it in our lifetime, but it is coming. They need to figure out how to make it work with the nerves in our bodies and the connections in the brain that send the messages. It will be a wonderful thing in my opinion.
