Acupressure To Induce Labor
The human body possesses a multitude of connected systems that are sometimes related to one another in ways that aren't immediately apparent or obvious. It's amazing how ancient Chinese medicinal techniques can be adapted to work alongside modern science to avoid complications. Over the millennia, ways to manipulate and stimulate nearly every aspect of human physiology and bodily function have been discovered, including ways to use acupressure to induce labor.
Although it is rare, it does happen from time to time that the labor process can experience complications, and even though the time has come for the baby to be born, something seems to be holding back its entry into the living world. It's also conceivable that the birthing mother may have a moral objection to taking chemical medications to help induce labor. Whether they simple want to be able to say they experienced a fully natural birth, which is their right as a woman to choose to do, or they wish to avoid any possibility of complications after child birth due to the medications that are typically used to induce labor, the result is still the same. Either way, a more natural or traditional solution must be found, in order to protect the well-being of both the mother and the child.
Using acupressure to induce labor fits the bill just perfectly, and can allow for an on-time delivery without the need for medicinal assistance. Although it's probably best to enlist in the assistance of an experienced acupressure practitioner to actually carry out the therapy, the spots on the human body that pressure can be applied to in order to induce labor are actually not that complicated to find. In a pinch, just about anybody can apply pressure to help the process along.
There are three main spots that can be stimulated via acupressure to induce labor. Two are located on the hand, in between the index finger and the thumb, and approximately three inches above the ankle, on the inside of the leg. The third is on the back, approximately three inches below where the neck and shoulders merge. These are both very concentrated nerve clusters, and you'll know you've located them accurately by the sensation that occurs.
It's important not to apply too much pressure, and if possible, the person doing acupressure should work their fingers into the tissue using moderate pressure, and a constant circular motion. According to ancient Chinese resources on the topic, this stimulation should help to counteract the imbalance in the flow of Chi caused by the stress and anxiety of the experience. It should be noted that the body must be at the stage of labor where childbirth is imminent. The use of this strategic pressure should help to put the body into a state where it is able to more readily accept the experience. If done at the right time, and with the right technique, using acupressure to induce labor more easily can be a very viable alternative to contemporary drugs.
