Is bunion surgery right for you?
Most bunion surgery is an outpatient procedure that takes only an hour to complete local anesthesia, but can take weeks to repair. podiatrists believe that people who undergo bunion surgery will have to stay off her feet for the next 3 to 6 weeks. This does not mean it will be in bed! Rather, it should avoid any activity that requires walking, running, or standing for long periods of time.
This can be particularly difficult for people with jobs that need to be on their feet all day (hairdressers, lawyers, teachers, etc.). Most people who are recovering from bunion surgery must use crutches or a walker type for the first couple of weeks, and may require orthopedic shoes special (your podiatrist usually provide them for you if you need). Because of the long recovery time for bunion surgery, many people with bunions or toe with hallux valgus deformity, to postpone the surgery.
If you are wondering if the bunion surgery is right for you ask yourself the following questions. Are your bunions that cause pain in the foot on a regular basis? "It is difficult for you to perform normal physical activity? Do you feel foot pain, even when performing a task as simple as going to the supermarket or walking around the block? This pain should occur even when you are wearing athletic or orthopedic shoes.
