There are lots of options for home businesses but most of them are going to require some seed money and time. The ones that you mentioned might work if you are interested in them but you are going to need to figure out how to market and sell them. As far as candy goes since this is a product made for people to consumer, you are most likely going to need a special license from your state health department and have your product facility (most likely your mom's kitchen) inspected.

With crafts you could try marketing them at various craft shows as well as on-line.

Unless you are marketing the product under your own name you will need a DBA (Doing Business As) on file. Normally this is done at your county court house. There is normally a small fee ($25-50) for this.

You will also need to collect and file sales tax and need to contact your state department of taxation for the needed paperwork.

There are several good companies that allow people sign up as independent representatives. You might want to consider one of those because it might require less paperwork.

Good luck with your venture.

Artificial Flowers Can be Just as Lovely as Fresh Flowers

There are several pros and cons between artificial flowers and fresh flowers. The first thing is with artificial flowers there is very little to clean, no fluids to get spilt, no soil to prune, just set it down and go about your business. Another good aspect about artificial flowers is once you have purchased it, there is no need to spend another dime buying the same thing, and it will remain for a very long time. They may require a little dusting now and then, but this can easily be achieved by wiping them with a slightly wet water cloth, or giving them a quick soak with some soapy liquid. Note not all artificial flowers can be washed with water. They will never get too long for their vases or pots as the case may be, and will certainly not need any caring for.

Artificial Flowers make a wonderful gift for someone, because they will have them long after the event is over, unlike real fresh flowers that will eventually wither and die. They might be pricey but are worth it in the long run, because it is like a medium to long term investment where you can see your moneys worth for a long time to come. Another good point to note is they are readily available, you do not need to go to the Florist to get a an arrangement, there are many shops which carry these and they come in a wide variety to suit any occasion, whether it is a promotion, or Christmas or a wedding anniversary, there are lots to choose from.

Fresh flowers on the other hand need special daily care, but they smell so nature like and look so gorgeous that some people would rather part with their money on these than on artificial flowers. Even though they know it will only last a week or two. A beautiful arrangement of say fresh carnations given to someone to celebrate a special occasion would definitely be more cherished than an artificial arrangement, because somehow it feels more personal than an arrangement of artificial flowers.

In the world of work, artificial flowers in the office certainly seems to outnumber the desire for fresh flowers. It is more wise to buy artificial flowers especially huge artificial trees, fern and palm are a good example, to beautify the office environment, without the worry of having to care for them on a daily basis and it also gets rid of the problem of coming into the office on a Monday morning only to find that the plants are almost dead because they did not receive enough water over the weekend, not to mention the problem of dead leaves and petals all over the floor.

Description

This will be the first book of its kind to deal specifically with faux floral arrangements in glass containers. The transparent element creates special challenges for the crafter/designer. Parts of the flowers and foliage that would be hidden in an opaque container will be exposed, so many traditional floral arranging methods don’t work. Ardith shows that the transparent nature of glass is really an opportunity to be creative and have fun. Materials like colored floral foam and “artificial water” can be used to greater advantage in glass containers. There are many innovative ways of shaping the wire stems of faux flowers, building support structures, and using the newest materials on the market.
